Auscultation of Abdominal Bruits


Bruits of the Aortic, renal, iliac, and femoral arteries can be auscultated in the appropriate positions, which are as follows:
Aortic: 2-5cm cephalad to the umbilicus, in the midline
Renal Artery: 2-3cm to either side of the aortic area
Iliac: 1-2cm caudad, and 2-3 cm lateral to the umbilicus
Femoral: Ausculatate over the palpated femoral artery in the crease of the groin
